uten silo

my fab uten.silo wall storage attracts a lot of attention i promised to post some information for all my interested customers.

first launched in 1969 under the name of  ‘wall all’  it was designed by dorothee becker, who was married to lighting designer ingo maurer. becker was a self taught designer & developed the uten.silo whilst working in maurer’s studio. it was designed at the time when plastic was becoming a popular material in the manufacture of household items, although production  was halted in 1974 due to the oil crisis. subsequently  becker has granted permission to the vitra design museum to re-issue the uten.silo. the various sized pockets, hooks & clips make it an adaptable addition to home & office & my studio!

suppose i should tell you where to buy one…   the conran shop, Salts Mill in Saltaire & one or two other discerning outlets.

& i recently spotted it on www.nest.co.uk !

october cover & kitchen

i was really excited to the receive the october issue of country homes & interiors this afternoon!  there is a lovely feature of this beautiful holiday home set in the forest of bowland and tucked away in these delicious images are a few selected items from &made - i’m unashamedly thrilled to bits!

i love the colours and textures in this house, it’s such a pleasure to see my work sitting so comfortably in these  room settings – just as if it along belongs there. i’ve got to say a big thank you to beverley for asking me to supply the work, & vivienne & brent, from ch&i for featuring it. these magazine shots look effortless but I saw at first hand what a huge amount of work goes into one photo shoot it made me appreciate it even more.

farrow & ball gown

farrow & ball gown

i‘ve had a  fab few days, designing & making this frock, using some beautiful farrow & ball wall paper samples.

thanks to debbie peers who owns the  lovely millan interiors shop and design service in parbold, lancashire for giving me this dream job.  the farrow & ball gown was commissioned for a new window dressing display;  i couldn’t resist attempting matching bag and shoes just to complete the picture!

it’s wierd how two completely seperate projects come along from entirely different sources yet are linked. following on the heels of the window dressing project i have been lucky enough – again -  to be involved in a course of workshops being run over the summer at the whitworth art gallery.  the interior design course has been inspired by the current exhibition – ‘ the walls are talking’ . four of my lovely fellow tenants are running consecutive weeks of skills workshops designed to explore various techniques & ideas with a group of keen and ambitious crafters.  we’re all looking forward to it, i’ll report back – hopefully with some images of our creations.

a big thank you to ed watts for involving mc&dc tenants in this project.
